Below you will find a couple of infographics you can use in your school’s newsletter to remind families: that every day of school matters; when to keep their children home from school due to illness; and how to keep their children healthy.  This information is key to helping reduce chronic absenteeism, not only during flu season, but throughout the school year!

These guidelines are courtesy of our partners at Mission Graduate (missiongraduatenm.org) and are part of the Everyday Matters Attendance Guides.  The guides are full of attendance related information and can be used in discussions between staff and families to promote and address attendance (especially during Parent-Teacher Conferences).  If you would like some guides for your school, please contact your school’s Attendance Liaison or Ron Lucero at ron.lucero@aps.edu.

Also, please keep in mind that absences based on illness are always considered excused (even if the Nurse has not requested that the child be sent home).  This is why informing families about the appropriate times to take or keep their child home is so important. If you need additional information about student illness, please see the Nursing Department website.
